  • Travel Makeup Essentials for a Weekend Trip

With all the travelling I have done over the last year, I have become somewhat of a self proclaimed expert on the art of packing minimal makeup essentials. I quickly realized that when you are just on a weekend getaway, realistically you wont be using the entire makeup kit so I have picked one of each type of makeup products that I personally cannot operate without and are my personal essentials. So if you are a person who is always trying to stuff one more blush in that minuscule clear airport clearance bag before you go through security, this post should help you quite a bit! Here is my basic checklist (aka all i need to make myself look presentable/pretty on a daily basis).

    List of Travel Makeup Essentials

    BB/CC Cream

Not being very big on foundation, BB creams are my absolute favourite. A good BB/CC cream can give excellent coverage, be packed with SPF and is especially good for a natural dewy finish. However obvs, you can just sub this in for a foundation if that is something that you are more comfortable with! My current pick is the Laura Mercier BB Cream which is just such a classic, a favourite year round and perfect for daily wear.

    Concealer

Any will do, but you just need the ONE. There was a trip where I just packed my concealer and used it for super light coverage in lieu of a foundation. My pick for years and years has been the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and I don’t see that switching that out of my makeup bag essentials anytime soon.

    Blush

Most of the time, for airport security’s sake, it’s much easier to pack a powder blush and brush and be done with it. But lately, I have been loving cream and liquid blushes so been popping this one in my bag. Its the NARS Liquid Blush, goes on like a dream and is 15ml. It is on the bulkier side but I keep everything else so small, it still fits perfectly in the little clear bag. You can also just opt for an all purpose color stick product like Milk Beauty’s Cheek + Lip Product range.

    Sunscreen

This should have been on the top of my list because you should never not be with one, but most face sunscreens come in small tubes and bottles so this is an easy one. I’ve been on the Clarins one lately but any will do!

    Mascara

I am never caught on a trip without mascara. My pick is the Dior Overcurl. I really think they have very clean and non clumpy formulas + the wand curls the lashes automatically which eliminates the need for me to pack an eyelash curler = less bulk in the makeup bag!

    Lipstick

This is a super subjective product but have your pick. The key thing here is to stick to just one or a max of two (day and night). I’m a creature of habit and tend to reach for the same thing over and over again, so overall it makes life super easy!

Last, but definitely not least: BROWS! Pack your pencil or brow mascara and voila! You’re done with packing your travel makeup essentials.

Pro tip: Basically just pack the ONE item of each type of makeup you use if trying to travel light. Life will be transformed I promise you and you will still look fab. 😉
